She married the love of her life, Edgar Nance in 1957 in Roscoe Texas, where she started her family. In 1961 she moved to Durango, CO where her three other children were born. They then moved to Yuma in 1973 where she became a member of First Southern Baptist Church, then West Yuma Southern Baptist Church, and most recently Foothills Southern Baptist Church.
She worked at School District One and became the cafeteria manager at Alice Byrne where she later retired. After retirement she took some art courses at AWC and dedicated her time to her children, grandchildren, painting, and gardening, specifically attending her Kalancho flower beds.
Betty is survived by her husband, Ed Nance, Sr.; sons, Ed Nance Jr. (Karen) of Yuma, Robert Nance of Tucson, AZ and John (Brenna) Nance of Eugene OR; daughter, Rebecca Nance of Yuma; brother David (Donna) Hestand of La Junta, CO and sister Dorothy (Edwin) Young of Sweetwater, TX; nine grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Betty is preceded in death by her father, Marlin Lee Hestand; mother, Mattie Lou Hestand and sister, Margaret Baker.
Visitation for Betty will be Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Funeraria del Angel from 5 - 9 pm. Funeral Services on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Funeraria Del Angel at 10 am.
Interment will follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Nance, Jordan Nance, Tanner Nance, Ryan Nance, Harold Pritchett and Glen Jackman. Honorary pallbearers are Gerald Power, Roland Driggers and David Nance.
