Funeral services for Merville Howard (Stump) White, 67, of Temple were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Scott's Funeral Home chapel. Minister John Ray Stevens conducted the rites, and burial was in Restiand Cemetery.
Mr. White, a retired carpenter, died Thursday in a Temple hospital.
Born Dec. 26, 1908, in Coryell County, he was reared in the Harmon community.
He farmed in the Gatesville area for a number of years, and then carried a rural mail route out of the Gatesville post office. He was employed as a carpenter by a Temple lumber firm until his retirement in 1967.
He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Zona White of Temple; four daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Louise Songer and Mrs. Ruth Grant, both of Gatesville, Mrs. Phillis Jones of Jonesboro and Mrs. Clydene Knight of Denver City; four sons, J. T. White of Moody, Lonnie White of Temple, Howard White of Regina, Ky., and Donald White, who is with the U. S. Army in Germany; five sisters, Mrs. A. B. (Leota) Wilkinson of Pearl, Mrs. Murvil (Odessa) Gartman of Fort Gates, Mrs. C. B. (Frieda) Delano of Heidenheimer, Mrs. Arlie (Faye) Gartman of Purmela and Mrs. Claudis (Doris) Autrey of Temple; three brothers, Doyle White and Johnny White, both of Belton, and Barney White of Temple; 23 grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers for Mr. White's funeral were James Thomas Henager, Robert Glenn White, Roger White, Anthony White, Perry Jay White, Randel Haferkamp, Ronald White, and James Jackson.
