Janet was born on November 14th, 1917, in Pembroke, GA, to the late Otis and Fannie Butler. She was a long time employee for JCPenneys. Janet, her husband, Nesbitt, and son, Craig, all moved from Georgia to Florida in 1963. They were members of the First Baptist Church of Homosassa. After arriving in this area, they opened Crystal Apartments in 1963; after running and managing them for 21 years, they retired in 1984.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nesbitt Newton, and Keesha. Her survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Sharon Newton of Homosassa; her granddaughter and husband, Theresa and Tony Furr of Kannapolis, NC, Regina Newton of Chiefland, FL; great-granddaughter and her husband, Shannon and Joel Beck; great-great-grandchildren, Kyley Janet Newton and Bryce Andrew Nesbitt Riley, all of Homosassa; her care giver, Brenda Kaub.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 18, 2009, at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa Springs with Pastor Alan Ritter and Pastor John Fizer officiating. Interment will follow in Stage Stand Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Thursday, December 17th.
