LEE FOSTER OBITUARY - - Lee Lemuel Foster, son of Hamilton and Flora Foster, was born at Sidney, Iowa, on May 6, 1908 and passed away August 13, 1956, at the Lincoln, Nebraska Veterans' Hospital at the age of 48 years 3 months and 7 days. He had entered the hospital on August 3rd. He spent his entire life in and around Fremont County. He served three years during World War II in the European, Middle East and North African campaigns. He was a member of the VFW and American Veterans. He had served recently as night watchman at Hamburg. Always mindful of the welfare of others, he gave willingly of his time to his friends.
He is survived by his parents, five brothers; Opal and Amos of Shenandoah, Erskine, August and Everett of Riverton; four sisters, Mrs. Faye Turner of Sioux Falls, S.D., Mrs. Edna Forgery of Portland, OR, Mrs. Gladys Rea and Mrs. Marlene Racine of Riverton; and 21 nieces and nephews, other close relatives and friends. Funeral rites were held on Thursday afternoon, the 16th, in Shenandoah at Harding Funeral Home, conducted by A.R. Sorensen. Mrs. Ellis Broughton of Shenandoah was soloist. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. Relatives and friends from Omaha, Council Bluffs, Malvern, Glenwood, Hamburg, Sidney, Farragut and Riverton attended the funeral. Also attending were his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Max Turner of Sioux Falls, SD. Another sister, Mrs. Edna Forgery of Portland OR had recently visited in the Foster home here. Among friends from Riverton attending were Art Froman, Mrs. Cliff Binns, Mrs. Mae Sapp, Mrs. Dave Booker and Mr. and Mrs. George Simmerman.
