DEATH CLAIMS MRS. MALLORY EARLY TODAY
Funeral Services Will Be Held Sunday at Perryman Chapel

Mrs. R.C. Mallory, 52, a well-known and highly respected Red Oak woman died at the family home, 210 West Washington Avenue, this morning at 8 o'clock following a lingering illness. Mrs. Mallory was taken ill in early summer and for six months she has been bedfast. All that medical science could do was done for her and in a last effort to combat the disease she was taken to University hospital at Iowa City for treatment. She suffered from a bone infection. Members of her family have been constantly at her bedside and to comply with one of her last wishes she was removed by ambulance from the University hospital to her home here, the trip being made Sunday night.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Perryman Funeral Home with her pastor Rev. Ira E. Carney of the Christian church in charge of service. Pallbearers will be: Charles W. Miller, W.R. Sever, W.H. Longstreet, C.W. Cozad, H. Frank Lunsford and Harry S. Petty. Interment will be made in Evergreen cemetery.

Ina Isabelle Mallory was born at LaGrange, Ia., now an obsolete town six miles northeast of Russell, Ia., on June 12, 1880. She was a daughter of Andrew and Harriet Yerty. Her youth was spent in that vicinity. On May 14, 1902 (should be 1904) she was united in marriage to R.C. Mallory at Council Bluffs, Ia. Following their marriage they resided in Spalding, Nebr., for six years where Mr. Mallory was in charge of a newspaper, at Maxwell, Ia., for five years, then to Algona and to Red Oak in 1919 which had since been her home.

Mrs. Mallory was the mother of three children, Mrs. Gladys Carlson, Red Oak; Mrs. Mary Shanor, Los Angeles, Calif., and Russell of Red Oak, all of whom survive her. Besides her husband and 12 year-old boy, Russell, she leaves her two daughters, Mrs. Axel W. Carlson and Mrs. A.V. Shanor, her aged mother, Mrs. Harriet Yerty, 85, of Russell, Ia., and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Viola Hays of Scottsbluff, Neb., Mrs. Lucy Wyckoff of Elwood, Kans., Mrs. Faye Miller of Russell, Ia., Mrs. Rena Baughman of Russell, Ia., and Aaron Yerty of Cassa, Wyo. Two sisters, Alice Yerty and Mrs. Grace Adcock and a brother, Ed Yerty of Albia, Ia., preceded her in death. (Note: Her brother Ed Yerty did not precede her in death. He died in 1967.)

Mrs. Mallory was a member of the Yeoman Lodge and of the Christian church. She was active in all branches of the church and had been a member of the Ladies Aid society, the Missionary society and at one time had been a member of the choir. She belonged to the Parent-Teachers association and the Monday club. She was a woman who easily made and retained friends, a kindly soul; a good mother and a splendid citizen who will be missed by scores of friends.
