David Allen Segrest, 89, affectionately known as "Brother" to his family, passed away on August 5, 2004 in a local hospital. He was born January 22, 1915 in Houston, Texas to J.B. (By) Segrest and Laura Crocker Segrest. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He was also a lifetime member of the local VFW 2397. After serving his country, Allen worked for Crocker Transfer and Storage, the Country Club and Joe Crocker Trucker Company.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 27 years, Helen Womack and his second wife of 18 years, Marie Rossi.

Allen is survived by his daughter, Rose Webb, granddaughter, Tiffani, his loving brother, Charles B. Segrest (Allene "Tweedy"), nephew, David Segrest, nieces, Robbi Coffman (Wayne) and family and Carrie Carey and family

He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Allen will be remembered as someone who was always happy to meet people and make them feel special.

Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, August 8, 2004 at Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 9, 2004 at Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Chapel, with Msgr. Richard Shirley as celebrant. (Corpus Christi Caller-Times)
