Highland, UT - Vivian Parsons Apgood Powell passed away suddenly at her home after her sweet companion so lovingly cared for her through a long battle of Alzheimer's Disease on January 23, 2004.

Vivian was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

She was born February 2, 1936 in Axtell, Utah to Harvey Parsons and Geneal Mary Jensen.

She was married September 13, 1954 to Elden H. Apgood.

He preceded her in death December 8, 1968.

She would later meet and marry Calvin Cox Powell January 26, 1970, and they would make their home in Highland, Utah where they enjoyed raising their families together.

Vivian's life was defined by service to others.

She endlessly worked to bless the lives of those that she touched.

She shared her creative talents with others through service as a Relief Society president, Young Women's president, nursery worker, and later in life as she worked with her husband doing temple work.

Vivian loved the arts and enjoyed listening to music and expressing her talents through visual arts and crafts.

Her legacy is reflected not only in her art work, but in the lives and homes that she touched.

She is survived by her husband, Calvin, and five children, Paula (Lou) Strasberg, Lindon, UT, Alison (Floyd) Griffiths, Cove, UT, Sandy (Ralph) Rich, South Weber, UT, Alisa (Mike) Shelley, Provo, UT, Elden Delon Apgood, Stanford, CT; and by Calvin's children, Don (Marilyn) Powell, Springville, UT, Debbie (Stafford) Sorenson, Sandy, UT, Jerry (Sherry) Powell, Ridgecrest, CA, Kim (Jenise) Powell, Norfolk, VA, Tina (Alan) Sterneckert, Sandy, UT, and Bradley (Karen) Powell, Annabelle, UT; one brother, Gerald (Diane) Parsons, Salt Lake City, UT; and four sisters, Elma Gatso, Salt Lake City, UT, Myrna (Dave) Ferris, Butte, MT, Katherine Hinkle, Butte, MT, and Sharon (Darrell) Orgille, Orting, WA.

She is also survived by 46 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and her family and friends that will miss her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elden; and one brother, Roger.

Our family would like to thank the staff of Advantage Care Hospice for their care and friendship while caring for Vivian, especially Pattie Swenson.

Funeral services for Vivian will be held Wednesday, January 28, 2004, at 12 noon, in the Highland East Stake Center Chapel located at 4679 West 11000 North Highland, Utah.

A viewing will be held Tuesday evening, January 27, 2004, from 6-8 p.m. at the Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah (located four blocks north of the Mt. Timpanogos Temple), and an additional viewing will be held Wednesday morning from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Highland East Stake Center prior to services.

Interment for Vivian will take place immediately following her funeral service at the Murray City Cemetery located at 5600 South Vine Street Murray, Utah.

Funeral arrangements are being conducted under the direction of Warenski Funeral Home, American Fork, Utah.
