Claude Burgess, 71, lifelong resident of Sun Prairie township, died at his home Friday after a lingering illness. He was a son of pioneer parents, who settled near here in 1848. His father died in 1885 and his mother in 1914. For the past 29 years he had lived on the same farm near Sun Prairie. Twenty years ago he was married to Mrs. Sara Hatch, who survives with two step-children, Lou Hatch of Rockford, IL and Mrs. Isabel Alton of Chicago; two brothers, August at home, and Sherman of Waupun. Funeral services will be held Monday at the home at 2 p.m. with Rev. H. S. Crouse, pastor of the Sun Prairie Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will be in Pierceville Cemetery.
