Reuben Roberts, the son of Charles M. B. and Agnes J. Hale Roberts was born in Madisonville, Madison County, Texas. In March 1895, Reuben relocated to Alvin, Brazoria County, Texas with his family and grandparents. They lived and worked in both Alvin and Galveston, Texas.

Reuben married Georgia Annie Wooley on the August 19, 1909 in Galveston. There were 4 children of this marriage: Charles Luther, Florence Lee, Raymond Brooks and John Franklin Roberts.

Reuben, age 27, registered for the WWI Draft on June 5, 1917 in Galveston. He was described as medium build, slender, blue eyes and light hair. He stated his occupation as a laborer on the Southern Pacific Docks in Galveston, Texas. He stated that he had a wife and 3 children at that time. The application was signed by Reuben Roberts.

He was a Longshoreman on the Galveston Docks and was a member of the Internatiional Longshoreman Association and a member of the Broadway Baptist Church. He was a longtime resident of Galveston and had lived there since 1908.

Reuben's second marriage was to Augusta Lampert, daughter of Martina Frick and William Lampert, in Galveston, Texas. She is mentioned as a survivor in his obituary. According to Augusta Roberts' obituary, she was the widow of Reuben Roberts. There were no children of this marriage.

Reuben died at the age of 66 at the John Sealy Hospital and is buried in Oleander Cemetery without a headstone or marker.
