Birdie married Frank Lyle Kost in Galveston, Texas, on December 1, 1917. They lived in and raised their children in Alvin, Brazoria County, Texas. Their four children were: Frank Lyle Kost, Jr., Alice Marie Kost, Howard Stuart Kost and Nellie Agnes Kost. The children were all born in Alvin, Texas.

Birdie kept the family records and passed them down to her daughters, Alice and Nellie.
