Mattie Estelle Wooley, daughter of Charles Middleton Breaker Roberts and Agnes Jane Hale Roberts, was born in Madisonville, Texas and moved with her family to the Texas Gulf Coast area in 1895. Mattie Estelle lived in Alvin and in Galveston as a young woman. After her marriage the family lived in Houston and Bay City, Texas. All of the children were born in Harris County, Texas, except for the youngest, Harvey, who was born in Bay City, Matagorda County, Texas

Mattie Estelle Roberts married Joseph Allen Wooley on the 22nd of March 1912. There were 10 children of this marriage including one set of twins. The children were Joseph Otis Wooley, Marvin Middleton Wooley, Floyd Edwin Wooley, Maudie Estelle Wooley Boehm, Olive Jane Wooley Allbritton, Myrtle Lou (Bessie) Wooley Checkle, Benjamin Oliver Wooley, Carl and Claude Wooley (twins) and Harvey Overton Wooley.

Mattie was a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church. At the time of her death, there were 31 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Mattie was 89 years old and is buried at Forest Park Lawndale, Houston, Texas next to husband, Joseph Allen Wooley, and other family members.
