GRANITE FALLS- Irene Fowler LaFevre, 68, of Rt. 3, Granite Falls, died Tuesday at her residence following a brief illness.
Born July 18, 1920, in Caldwell County, she was a daughter of the late Donel Bain and Mattie S. Fowler.
She was a Navy veteran and a graduate of Baptist School of Nursing in Winston-Salem.
A member of Dudley Shoals Baptist Church, she was a member of the Women's Missionary Union and served as a Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include: three sons, Leland Merle LaFevre of Durham, Donel Bain LaFevre of Hickory, and John Philip LaFevre of Granite Falls; two daughters, Margaret Ann Tygard and Martha Jo LaFevre of Chapel Hill; and two sisters, Mary Frances Taylor of Hickory, and Margaret Lucille Fowler of Granite Falls.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Mackie-High Funeral Home.

Separated on April 8, 1957 and divorced on Dec. 19, 1958 in Virginia.
