NOTES: Mr. McFarland's headstone, SSDI record and obituary show (or imply) that he was born Dec. 31, 1896. However, that date conflicts with the accepted birth date of his sister, Nola Mae (McFarland) Carraway, who was born March 15, 1896. His correct birth year is known from the 1900 census which shows that he was born Dec. 1898.
