He was the son of Martha Ellen "Mattie" (Gilmore), who died in Kentucky, and Cornelius Decatur Broyles, who died in California.

His obituary from the June 19, 1969 Republican:

Last rites for Everett F. Broyles, well-known retired farmer of the Pittsboro community, were Saturday afternoon from the Gregory Funeral Home there. He died June 11 in the Hendricks County Hospital at the age of 81. He had been in ill health for some time.

A life-time farmer, he was active in Democrat politics and served as the trustee of Middle Township several years ago. He was a member of the Pittsboro Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge there.

He was married to the former Geneva Seymour, April 27, 1909, and they lived in the Pittsboro community their entire married life. She preceded him September 30, 1968.

Survivors include two sons, Robert F. Broyles, Mooresville, and Harold W. Broyles, Pittsboro; two daughters, Geraldine Dickason, Royal Oaks, Michigan, and Doris Weber, Thousand Oaks, California; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Luther Broyles, Danville. A son, Felix Broyles, preceded him.
