Doris Broyles Weber Udy died January 2 at the University of Louisville Hospital in Kentucky. She was 87. Born November 17, 1917, in Hendricks County, close to Clermont, she was a daughter of the late Everett and Geneva Broyles. She married Josephus C. Weber in 1943. He died in 1993. She later married Miles Udy, who died in 2003. Mrs. Udy graduated from Pittsboro High School and later taught there from 1939 to 1943. She obtained an education degree from Central Normal College in Danville. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with a masters degree in education in 1966. She worked as a teacher in various locations for 37 years. She and her husband had also owned and operated the Griffith Shopper newspaper in northern Indiana from 1947 to 1951. Survivors include brothers, Harold Broyles of Pittsboro and Robert Broyles of Florida; a daughter, Regina Scott of Indiana; sons, Robert and Daniel Weber, both of California; grandchildren, Emily and Mark Weber of Texas, Karla Scott Johnson of Brownsburg, Keith Scott of Illinois, and Travis, Joshua and Chelsea Weber of California; and great-grandchildren, Zachary and Alyssa Johnson of Brownsburg, Gracie Weber of Texas, and Nicole Weber of California. Preceding her in death were a brother, Felix Broyles; a sister, Geraldine Dickason; and a son, Josephus Everett Weber. Services were January 29 at Pittsboro Methodist Church. Interment was at the Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Lizton. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
