PATROLMAN GALLAGHER EXPIRES SUDDENLY THIS MORNING FROM ATTACK OF APOPLEXY:
Members of the police department were shocked today to learn of the sudden death of an officer.
Patrolman A.J. Gallagher, 50 years old, and a member of the force for more than seven years, died at his home at 4:35 o'clock this morning before medical aid could be summoned to his bedside. He had been ill less than three hours. Coroner R.F. Barker held an inquest at Linder's morgue in State street at 10 o'clock this morning. The jury held that death was due to apoplexy.
PATROLMAN'S DEATH SUDDEN:
Patrolman Gallagher's death came as a great shock to his many friends on the department, especially since he passed away so suddenly. He came into the station at 5:45 o'clock yesterday afternoon when he arrested an offender. He left his beat at 10:30 and went immediately to his home. On the previous night he had complained to his wife of pains in his side, but he suffered no ill effects and seemed to be as well as ever yesterday when he reported for duty at the police station at 2:30 o'clock.
The patrolman woke members of his family up at 2 o'clock this morning, complaining of shooting pains in his side. For a time he seemed to be relieved but when the pains came back at 4 o'clock asked that a physician be summoned. He died before the arrival of the physician.
Patrolman Gallagher was appointed on the police force on February 28, 1915. He has always been a faithful officer and popular in police circles.
He is survived by a widow and two children. The funeral arrangements have not been made.

GALLAGHER ---- Entered into rest on Monday, July 24, at 5 a.m., Anthony Joseph Gallagher, aged 50 years, at his home 1222 State St. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Miss Alice Gallagher and Mrs. Florence Eltrich (nee Gallagher), and sisters Mrs. Bertha Hubert and Mrs. Maggie Donovan, both of Corning, Kan. Funeral from residence, 1222 State St., Wednesday, July 26, at 2:30 p.m., to Mount Hope Cemetery. Rev. Keeney will officiate. Linder has charge.
