THE HAVENSVILLE REVIEW - APRIL 26, 1917

John Gallagher was born in Ireland May 1832, and came to America in 1848. He settled in Virginia and later came to Kansas the present home, where he had lived for the last 35 years, helping to develop the community as all the older settlers had to do.

Mr. Gallagher was united in marriage to Miss Alice Flaherty in 1853. To this union were born eleven children, seven of whom have preceded their father whose death occured last Thursday morning at the age of eightyfour years, eleven months. Mr. Gallagher had not been as well as usual the last few days, altho he had been about the house, had not missed his meals and retired Wednesday evening as usual, but Thursday morning he remained in bed longer than customary. When his daughter went to see why it was she was shocked to find her father cold in death.

Early in life the subject of this sketch professed his faith in Christ, and lived and died in firm confidence of the promises God has given. Funeral services were held at the house by the writer of this sketch, and the burial ceremony and services were conducted by the pastor of the Methodist Church of Havensville, Kansas, Saturday at 1 p.m. Interment in the Havensville cemetery.

He leaves a loving companion, four children, sixteen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, besides many friends and neighbors to mourn his sudden death. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of the entire community, whose prayers are that they may have sufficient strength for this time.
