Eugene P. (Ted) Monahan, 83, of 1804, Cambridge, died at 12:35 p.m, Sunday, Feb. 13, 1994, at Mt. Carmel Medical Center. He had been hospitalized four times since September 1993.
Mr. Monahan was born July 5, 1910, in Pittsburg, the son of James and Cathleen Derby Monahan. He attended Pittsburg schools and lived in Pittsburg until moving to Albuquerque, NM, in 1950. He returned to Pittsburg in 1973 after his retirement and had lived here since that time.
Mr. Monahan was employed as a bus driver for the Gordon Transit Bus Lines of Pittsburg in the 1940s. He went to work for the Sandia Laboratories in Albuquerque in 1950 until his retirement in 1973.
Membership was in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Commodore Berry Council No. 883 of Pittsburg, Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge No. 2034 of Frontenac and the Pittsburg Elks Lodge No. 412.
He married Vera Graham June 26, 1948, in Pittsburg.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one sister, Virginia Monahan of 2601 N. Joplin and several nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Joe Monahan, Francis Monahan and John Monahan; and three sisters Nellie Lindsay, Clara Monahan and Mary Morey.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac with the Rev. Patrick York officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery. Parish rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family will receive friends following the rosary. Friends also may call anytime after 10 a.m. today at the Friskel Funeral Home, 230 E. McKay in Frontenac.
