Vera M. Monahan, 82, 1709 Heritage Rd., at Pittsburg, died at 12:20 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 1996, at the Brady Building at Joplin, Mo., where she had been a patient since Nov. 29. She had been ill the past two months.
She was born May 25, 1914, at Mulberry, to Walker and Jessie Parson Graham. She attended schools at Mulberry, graduating from the Mulberry High School. She graduated from Kansas State Teachers College, now Pittsburg State University, and received her masters degree from the University of New Mexico. She taught school at the Myers School, Baseline School in Crawford County and in Neodesha and Parsons. She also taught school in Albuquerque, N.M., from 1950 to 1971, when she retired and moved back to Pittsburg.
She married Eugene "Ted" Monahan in 1948. He preceded her in death in 1994.
Mrs. Monahan was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the National Education Association.
