PITTSBURG - Virginia H. Monahan, 89, of the Golden Living Center, Pittsburg, passed away at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, November 13, 2008, at the Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center, Pittsburg.
She was born April 22, 1919, at Pittsburg, KS, the daughter of James F. and Katherine (Derby) Monahan.
Miss Monahan was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Pittsburg. She loved spending time with her family.
Miss Monahan is survived by a nephew, Bill Lindsay and his wife, Mary, four great-nieces, Christi Bond, Cathi Lindsay and her husband Steve Gaikowski, Sherri Lindsay and her husband Scott Henson, and Missi Kelley and her husband Chris, three great nephews, Bob Smith and his wife Kathy, Mick Lindsay, and Bill Lindsay and his wife Suzanne, three loving cousins, Lala Payne, Rosie Kritzer, and Babby Morey, and several great-great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, John, Joe, Ted, James, and Kinley Monahan, three sisters, Clara Monahan, Nellie Lindsay, and Christine Monahan, a niece, Bunny Lindsay Smith, and two great-nieces, Cindy Smith and Stacey Smith.
Graveside services are set for 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 17, 2008, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Pittsburg, with Father Donald Theissen conducting the service. Friends are asked to meet at the Highland Park Pavilion. The family suggests memorials to the Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Fund and/or Alzheimer’s Association. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762. Online condolences may be left at www.brennermortuary.com.
