Hattie C. Clifton Girardeau Clifton - SAVANNAH - Hattie Cleonice "Cle" Clifton Girardeau Clifton, 85, of Savannah, Georgia, widow of Johnnie Franklin Clifton, died Saturday morning, March 8, 2008, at Ogeechee Area Hospice surrounded by her loving family. Born in Leefield, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Robert Lee Clifton and the late Leona Johns Clifton. Mrs. Clifton was a Christian and retired from Union Camp Corporation (now International Paper) after 19 years of service. She was an avid reader and loved to work in her yard. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas "Tommy" C. Girardeau, and a grandson, Michael Blanchard. Surviving are three daughters, Patsy G. Nettles and her husband, Earl, of Twin City, Georgia, Joan G. Cathcart of Statesboro, Georgia, and Brenda G. Farmer and her husband, Jerry, of Demorest, Georgia; two sisters, Jackie Hagin and her husband, Winston, of Brooklet, Georgia, and Sarah Black of Statesboro, Georgia; one brother, Carroll E. Clifton, Sr. and his wife, Carol, of Savannah, Georgia; one half-sister, Linda E. Keller and her husband, Bob, of Martinez, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Roy Nesbitt, Jr., Sheri Lanier, Lori Rambo, Tracie Danzey, Heather Cathcart, Jason Fillingim and Jeremy Fillingim, and seventeen great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue. Funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Dr. Frank M. Parr.
