Joan Harriett Cathcart - STATESBORO - Joan Harriett Cathcart, 66, of Statesboro, Georgia, died Monday morning, June 22, 2009, at the home of her sister and brother-in-law in Twin City. Born in Hampton, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Johnnie Franklin Clifton and the late Hattie Cleonice "Cle" Clifton Girardeau Clifton. Joan was a Christian and was a former bus driver for Savannah-Chatham County Public School System.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Blanchard, and by a brother, Thomas "Tommy" C. Girardeau.
Surviving are Tracie D. Rowlette of Duluth, Georgia and Heather Marie Cathcart of Augusta, Georgia; two sisters, Patsy G. Nettles and her husband, Earl, of Twin City, Georgia, and Brenda G. Farmer and her husband, Jerry, of Demorest, Georgia; five grandchildren, Savanna Danzey, Stephen Danzey, Sydnie Danzey, Savannah Blanchard and Neely Blanchard, and one great-grandchild. The funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service. Interment will be private.
