Final rites for Mrs. Alta Harris, 73, were held Friday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock at Bruces Funeral Home in Fort Dodge, IA, and at 2:30 P.M. at the Methodist Church in Livermore, IA. The Rev. H. Milo Hall, pastor of the Riverside Methodist Church in Fort Dodge, IA, officiated.
Capt. and Mrs. G. Stanley Hook of the Salvation Army sang three selections: "In The Garden" at Bruces Funeral Home in Fort Dodge, IA, and "The Old Rugged Cross" and "I Shall See Him Face To Face" at the Methodist Church in Livermore, IA. Mrs. A. M. Murray was the Organist.
Burial was in the Union Cemetery, northwest of Livermore, IA. Pallbearers were three grandsons: Lloyd Harris of Dakota city, IA, Donald Beers of Hampton, IA, James Lewis of Fort Dodge, IA, and three nephews, Arthur Hoppe of Winnebago, MN, Wayne Hoppe of Eagle Grove, IA, and William Veldhouse of Gilmore City, IA.
Mrs. Harris-Murphy, a former Livermore and Gilmore City resident moved to Fort Dodge in 1953, where she died on Feb. 1, 1956 at Ellen's Rest Home. Alta Jones the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jones was born May 21, 1882, at Elmwood, NE.
On Feb. 16, 1897, she was united in marriage with Charles R. Harris, and six daughters and three sons were born to this union. The couple farmed near Livermore, Rodman, and Algona before moving to Minnesota in 1920.
In 1924 they returned to Iowa and farmed near Livermore, until moving to Gilmore City, IA. Mr. Harris died Nov. 8, 1935.
After his death, Mrs. Harris moved to Wisconsin. She was married to William Murphy of Grantsburg, Wis. in Nov. of 1937. Mr. Murphy died Jan. of 1954.
Alta is survived by her four daughters: Mrs. Lloyd Henry of Mankato, MN; Mrs. Rex Amlaw of Minneapolis, MN; Mrs. Murril Beers of Hampton, IA; and Mrs. Jesse Lewis of Fort Dodge, IA; two sons: Chester Harris of Fort Dodge, IA; and Harry Harris of Indianapolis, Ind; 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Leslie Jones of Chicago, Ill; and Lloyd Jones of Grantsburg, Wis.
She joins in Heaven her first husband, Mr. Charles Harris in 1935; her second husband, William Murphy in 1954; her parents; a son, Daniel; two daughters; and two sisters.

Alta (Jones) Harris, died just shy of being 74, at age 73 years. She was of the Christian-Methodist Faith, where she had Baptized and Confirmed. She was a member of the Methodist Churches in Livermore, IA; Gilmore City, IA; Mankato, MN; Algona, IA, Wisconsin, and in the areas in which she lived. She was buried from the Methodist Church in Livermore, IA. At the time of her death she had been a member of the Riverside Methodist Church in Fort Dodge, IA. She a very kind, sweet, and soft spoken lady.
