Virgil H. Burns

LYONS – Virgil H. Burns, 73, died Dec. 27, 1983, at District Hospital, Lyons, after a sudden illness. Born March 7, 1910, at Bentley, he married Myrtle White June 29, 1930, at Wichita. He was a retired butcher for Lyons IGA and had been a longtime Lyons resident.

He was a member of United Methodist Church, Lyons, and Cornerstone Masonic Lodge, No. 219, and Order of Eastern Star, both of Little River.

Survivors: widow, of the home; sons, Howard, Eureka, Mo.; John, Greenville, S.C.; daughters, Patricia Buckless, Sterling, Va.; Nancy Burns, Los Angeles; stepbrothers, Harry Elliott, Stella, N.C.; Vernon Elliott, Mammoth, W. Va.; step-sisters, Merna Mellinton, El Paso, Texas; Winona McCausland, Amarillo, Texas; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church; the Rev. Bill Best. Burial at Bean Cemetery, Little River. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday at Sillin-Crawford-Miller funeral Home, Lyons. Memorials to the Diabetes Foundation or American Heart Association.
