Lt. Col. Harry Robert “Tex” Elliott USMC (Ret), 94, of Stella, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 at his home, with his loving family surrounding him.

He was a native of Wichita, KS, but had lived in Stella for the past 46 years. He served 27 years in the US Marine Corps, and was a highly decorated veteran of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. In recent years, he had been a dedicated leader and lay reader at St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Catholic Church in New Bern. He lived his Christian faith and he loved his country. A man of abundant talent and keen wit, he will be sorely missed by family, friends, and neighbors.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Rita Larson Elliott; 11 children, Ronald Elliott of Greenville, SC; Gary Elliott of Azle, TX; Betty Elliott Meadows (Danny) of New Bern; Kort Meier (Lisa) of Stella; Kathleen Meier Holland (Ron) of Arden; Col William Meier USMC (Ret) (Donna) of Stella; Douglas Meier (Debra) of Clyde; Stacy Larson Siler (Randy) of New Bern; Sydney Larson Graham (Winson) of Apache Junction, AZ; Celia Larson McMurry (Marty) of Fallon, NV; and Charles Larson (Dana) of Nampa, ID; 23 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6 pm until 8 pm at Jones Funeral Home, Swansboro.

Funeral Mass will be 10 am Friday, at the Base Protestant Chapel, Camp Lejeune, with The Rt. Rev. Donald F. Lerow officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
