Lucinda Jane 'Janie' Long Kendrick
was the daughter of Rev. Robert
Houston Long and Lucinda 'Holt' Long
of Afton, Ottawa Co., Oklahoma. Janie
was the grandaughter of Maples Long
and Mahala 'Atchley' Long and Henry
Holt and Martha'Logan' Holt.
Janie was the wife of Charles Kendrick.
The couple were married in Afton, Oklahoma.
Charles owned and operated a Barber shop
for many years in Oklahoma and in Arizona.
They later moved to Tucson, Pima Co.,
Arizona due to Janie's health.
She was the mother of two daughters:
Kathleen and Wanda. At the time of her
death, the girls were 17 and 13.
Funeral services for Lucinda Jane
Kendrick who died in a local hospital
was held at the chapel of the
Parker-Grimshaw funeral home. The
services and members of the Eastern
Star held the rituals at the grave side.
She was survived by her husband of
the home, Charles Kendrick and two
daughters. Also she had 2 brothers,
Rev. Isaiah H. Long and Ivan
Long both of Afton, Oklahoma.
Janie was survived by 3 sisters,
Mrs. Martha Bandy, of Fairland, Oklahoma,
Mrs. Cynthia Maples of Afton, Oklahoma
and Mrs. Mary Fowler also of
Afton, Oklahoma.
Her sister Mrs. Mary Fowler made the
trip to the funeral.
Lucinda was a namesake for her mother,
Lucinda 'Holt' Long.
Lucinda Jane 'Long' Kendrick was a lovely
Christian lady, who was loved by her friends
and family.
