Cynthia May "Long" Maples was the daughter of Rev.Robert & Lucinda "Holt" Long. She was the grandaughter of Maples Long and Mahala 'Atchley' Long, also Henry Holt and Martha
'Logan' Holt.
She attended Oak Grove school in Christain County, Mo.
Cynthia married Samuel Hase Maples 11 Jan. 1889 in
Christian Co., Mo. Samuel was the son of Timothy & Minerva "Frazier" Maples.
To this union 7 children were born:
Harvey Sullon
Robert
Elsie
Everett
Opal Marie
Infant daughter
Leota May
Their first & third children named above, died during an epidemic of diphtheria. The infant daughter lived one day.

Cynthia was a devoted daughter. She and Samuel lived with her father, Rev. Robert H. Long in Afton, Oklahoma during the last year of his life, taking care of him until his death. Rev. Robert H. Long had wrote a history page about
the Maples' family, his grandmother being Nancy Elizabeth
'Maples' Long, the wife of Rev. George W. Long 1 from Sevier/McMinn Co., Tennessee. His father, Maples Long was named in honor of his mother, Nancy 'Elizabeth's maiden name. Nancy Elizabeth was the daughter of Noah Maples and Rebecca 'Langston,' being Rev.Robert's great grandparents.
The history of the Maples' family was told to him by Thomas Maples Jr., as he was a family historian and had re-searched the Maples' family history. The history page is now in the hands of Rev. Robert's great grandaughter, Phyllis 'Long' Rhodes. It was written sometime in the late 1800's or 1920's.
Rev. R. H. Long had a great respect for his
son-in-law, Samuel and his family. I was told
by a close family member, that Samuel and Cynthia
took care of her father during his last year
of his life, in Afton, Ottawa Co., Oklahoma.
Rev. Long had married many of the Maples'
family members in Missouri and visited with
many of them through the years, learning the
history of their family. His niece, Ida
'Atchley' married Calvin P. Maples. They all
were very close and stayed in touch
regularly.

Samuel died 19 days after Cynthia died.

UPDATE: 2012...There are 6 totes
that have been discovered recently and they
contain a great deal of original documents,
pictures, letters, original marriage cert.,
newspaper clippings and origianl obits.
Also 4 very old Bibles. At this time
they are being carefully handle as some are
dated back in the late 1800's through the
1960's. Letters from all of the following
families; Long's, Maples' Atchlely's, and
Moore families, plus many more. The totes
are in my possession at this time.
UPDATE:Due to family medical, the totes have
been set aside for the time being.

Cynthia was a Baptist by faith, having been
saved early in her life, she remained faithful
to the church till her death. Her funeral was
held on August 9, 1968. I have found Cynthia's
original obit in the totes.
