She is descended on both side of her family tree from two of the wealthiest and most prominent families in Johnston-Wake Counties -- the Baucoms and Rands. She was the paternal grandchild of wealthy planter Urias Baucom & Elizabeth Lee of Johnston County; and the maternal grandchild of wealthy planter Nathaniel Greene Rand & Pherabee Parker Mial of Wake County.
Eva was about 26 years old when she married in 1889-1890 to her first cousin, Hardy Brittain Poole of Wake County, then about age 40.
The couple farmed in the Auburn area, then moved to Clayton around 1910 where Hardy became a dry goods merchant. They would become parents to 3 known children (2 boys/1 girl): Warren (c. 1900), Laurie (c. 1902), and Josephine (c. 1908).
Eva was widowed in 1941 when her husband of 40+ years died at age 82. She survived him another 27 years, passing in 1968 at age 95.
