A resident of Denham Springs, she died at 3:16 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 1998, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 75 and a native of Walker. Visiting was at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. Visiting at the funeral home chapel, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, with a Rebekah service at 11 a.m. Religious services at the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Dale Varnado and the Rev. John Causey. Interment in Denham Springs Memorial Park.
Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sybil Carpenter and Ted Rockett, Baton Rouge, and Janice Carpenter and A.J. White, Watson; a son and daughter-in-law, Murray L. and Joan K. Carpenter, Denham Springs; four sisters, Azalea and Carlene Bendily and Evelyn Hatchell, all of Denham Springs, and Merle Collins, Walker; two brothers, Harry and Morris Milton, Walker; eight grandchildren, Karen Rockett and Kim Rockett Reid, Todd and Phillip Carpenter, Lynn White Cooper, Jennifer White Douzart and Brenda and John David White; 10 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by first husband, Herman L. Carpenter; second husband, Richard M. Swearingen; three brothers, Bill and Mike [missing].
