Milton, Morris S. A retired carpenter and a lifelong member of Local 1098, he died at 8:15 a.m. Sunday, July 9, 2006, at Capitol House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Baton Rouge. He was 82, a resident of Denham Springs and a native of Walker. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific Theater. Visitation at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs, on Monday, July 10, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service at 1 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Merelin McCon. Burial in Walker Baptist Church Cemetery, Walker. He is survived by his wife, Novelle W. Milton; stepson, Van Slaughter Sr. and wife Shirley; three sisters, Evelyn Hatchell, Merle Collins and Carlene Bendily; four grandchildren, Chris Slaughter, Johnathan Slaughter, Alyson Slaughter and Dr. Van "Beaux" Slaughter Jr.; three great-granddaughters, Charlotte, Vanessa and Olivia Slaughter; and a very special great-grandson, C.J. Slaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elliott and Mary Keller Milton; stepdaughter, Waunice Sims; brothers, Oscar, Harry, Wilson and Mike Milton and Joe Stephens; and sisters, Rosa, Grace and Azalee Bendily, Leona Huntley, Mary Villar, Dorothy Carpenter and Ida Watson. Pallbearers will be Beaux Slaughter, Mike Collins, Mark Hatchell, Chris Slaughter, George Milton, George Bartley, Johnathan Slaughter and Ted Rockett. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Milton and Boyd Watson. He was a lifelong member of Walker Baptist Church, Walker, and a member of the American Legion. He loved fox and rabbit hunting and digging in the dirt in his garden. Memorial donations may be made to the Walker Baptist Church Building Fund, 10696 Florida Blvd., Walker, LA 70785.
