Raymond Taylor, 79, a rancher of Afton, died Nov 7, 1984 of heart failure at his home.
Funeral services were held Nov 10 under the direction of Schwab Mortuary at the Afton Second/Third/Fourth Wards LDS Church with Bishop Paul Stauffer officiating. Burial was in the Afton Cemetery.
Raymond was born April 15, 1905 in Mapleton, Idaho to Franklin D. and Priscilla Merrill Taylor.
He lived at Mapleton until seven years old, moved to Fairview with his family, attended public schools and loved sports. The family then moved to Montpelier, Idaho and Logan, Utah, where they grew strawberries, returning to Star Valley living on a ranch northwest of Afton.
Ray was a prominent sheep rancher and later raised Angus cattle and horses. Ray was a hard worker all his life and took pride in his ranch.
He married Edna Ihrig of Boise, Idaho on June 7, 1952 and was divorced May 7, 1956.
Ray was active in the LDS Church in Afton serving as special interest leader for about ten years, as an assistant in the Sunday School Presidency and as a home teacher.
Survivors of this death are sisters and brothers; Nora Papworth of Portland Ore.; Ada Marie Creamer of Boise, Idaho; Delbert Taylor also of Boise; Vernal Taylor of Afton and many nieces and nephews who will miss their Uncle Ray.
