Canajoharie, - Jan. 23.—Mrs. Oscar Van Etta, who has been ill for the past several months being affllcted with cancers, died at 1 o'clock this morning at her home on Seebers' Lane. Mrs. Van Etta was born in this village and was 54 years of age. She was a daughter of Amos and Fredericka Klinkhart.
For 20 years they resided in the city of Utica, and only two years ago built a home here and returned to Canajoharie. Mrs. Van Etta, while a resident of Utica, conducted a dressmaking business and was a very active and industrious woman. Of late however, her health has gradually failed, and notwithstanding that she had been to Utica for treatment and operations, on different occasions during the past two years, there was no help for her.
Mrs. Van Etta, whoso maiden name was Fanny Klinkhart, was the wife of Oscar Van Etta, of this village, and besides her husband is survived by four brothers, Augustus T. of Washington, D. C. John and Henry, of Canajoharie, George, of Sharon Springs, and three sisters, Mrs. Henry Filmer and Mrs. Robert Abeling, of Canajoharie, and Mrs. A. Countryman, of Rochelle, Ill.,
Mrs. Van Etta was a member of the German Lutheran church of Utica, and very much interested in its work and welfare. She was a patient sufferer and bore her affliction with fortitude. She was a devoted wife and a loving sister and her death is a blow to the family.
The funeral will be held on Thursday at 2 p. m. at the house. The Rev. W. M. Baum, D. D., pastor of St. Mark's Lutheran church of this village, and the Rev. Kir. Smith, of Utica, will officiate. Interment in Prospect Hill cemetery.
