Henry was first married to Ethel Mae McDaniel on November 21, 1942 in Fulton, Callaway County, Missouri.
His second marriage was to Ruth Margie Herriman on June 12, 1946 in Hiawatha, Brown County, Kansas. They were divorced. One daughter, Mary Margaret born of this union.
His third marriage was to Mildred Evolee Jones on July 30, 1957 in Jeffersonville, Clark County, Indiana. They were divorced. No children.
His fourth marriage was to Cora Ida "Jean" Maloney on August 13, 1960 in New Bloomfield, Callaway County, Missouri. Two children born of this union, Mark Ray and Tony Wayne.

Henry C. Matteson, 83, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of New Bloomfield, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 1997, at the MiCasa Nursing Center in Mesa, Ariz.
He was born Oct. 20, 1913, in Steedman, to Robert and Bessie McCall Matteson. He married Cora I. Maloney. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary M. Adams of Fulton; one son, Tony W. Matteson of Mesa, Ariz.; a sister, Dorothy Opperman of Fulton; two half-sisters, Bonnie Holt and Myrtle Autenrieth, both of Cassville, Mo.; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Matteson, four brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Matteson owned and operated the Matteson Garage in New Bloomfield for many years. He lived in New Bloomfield most of his life and collected and restored antique gasoline engines.
He was a WWII veteran, serving in the U. S. Army from April 1941 to September 1945. He was awarded three Bronze Stars.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with the Rev. Lewis Curtis officiating. Burial will be in the Callaway Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Fulton.
Visitation will be today from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Henry C. Matteson memorial fund in care of the Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas, Fulton, Mo. 65251.
