Marion Elvin Matteson, 71, of Fulton, died March 22, 1993, at Meadow Brook Nursing Center in Columbia.
He was born April 7, 1921, in Steedman, the son of the late Robert W. and Bessie Mae McCall Matteson. He married Mary Margaret Phillips in 1946, and she survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters, Carol Robertson, of Raleigh, N.C., Phyllis Bush, of Fulton, and Sharon Dean, of Osage Beach; one son, Gary Matteson, of Fulton; two brothers, Henry Matteson and Robert Matteson, both of Fulton; three sisters, Dorothy Opperman and Myrtle Autenrieth, both of Jefferson City; and Bonnie Holt, of Shell Knob; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, and earned four Bronze Stars for his service in the Philippines. He retired from Harbison-Walker after many years of service.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Maupin Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton, the Rev. Stephen Sowder officiating. Burial will follow at Callaway Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
