Mrs. Bessie Shoaf Dies At Hospital; Rites Thursday

Mrs. Bessie Mae Shoaf, 68, Route 4, died at 10 p. m. Monday at Callaway Memorial Hospital, after a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held 2 p. m. Thursday at Browning Funeral Home. The Rev. Clarence Norman will officiate and burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Shoaf was born April 11, 1895, in Des Moines, Iowa. She moved here with relatives at the age of three and lived in Callaway County since that time.
She was a member of the First Christian Church. For a number of years, Mrs. Shoaf had operated a nursing home here.
She is survived by her husband, Fred; five daughters, Mrs. Ophelia Pryer, Kansas City, Mrs. Dorothy Lederle, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Miss Gertrude Shoaf, Fulton, Mrs. Myrtle Autenrieth, Mexico, Mo., and Mrs. Bonnie Wyatt, Fulton; six sons, Henry Matteson, New Bloomfield, Robert L. Matteson, Florissant, Mo., Charles E. Matteson, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Harold Matteson, Glenn Dale, Ky., Elvin Matteson, Fulton, and Ronald Shoaf, of the home; and 34 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Lloyd Witt, Elmer Scott, Leo Boone, Edward Garrett, Paris Dillon and Vernon Wyatt.
