"Victor L. Bender 1917-2004

Victor L. Bender, of Tucson, died March 31, 2004 at the age of 87. He was born March 2, 1917 in Lebanon, Pa. to Jacob Kipp and Sarah (Ulrich) Bender.

Victor was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII with Company C-30th Engineer Base, Topographic Battalion. He retired from Speery Printing Company as a foreman.

Victor was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Sabbar Shrine Temple, VFW, American Legion, Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, and GAO-Grotto in Danville, Ill. and was a volunteer for Veterans Hospital in Las Vegas, Nev. and Danville, Ill.

Survivors include his daughter Mary Lou (Johnny) Gammon of Tucson; and son Robert Bender of Tonasket, Wash.

Also surviving are his sister Darlene Shucker of Lebanon, Pa.; his brother Ron Bender of Novato, Calif.; along with his grandchildren Marisa Harris, Mariela Gammon, and Lynsey Bender, and his great-grandchildren Ashlynn Harris, Reece Harris, Connor Harris and Christina Gammon.

Preceding him in death was his wife Mary, his parents, sisters Louella and Kathryn, and his brothers Cyril and George.

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 4, at 2 p.m. at Westlawn Chapel. Burial followed in Sunset Cemetery in Willcox.

Contributions may be to the Veterans Hospital or Make a Wish Foundation, 711 E. Northern Ave., Phoenix, Ariz., 85020.

Services were under the direction of Westlawn Chapel, Mortuary and Crematorium of Willcox."
