8 May 1968: Jacob K. Bender, 76, 16 David Drive, died late Tuesday evening in the Good Samaritan Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born in Campbelltown a son of the late Jacob and Elizabeth Kipp Bender. His wife was the late Sara Mae Uhrich Bender. He retired from the Lebanon Paper Box Company after 40 years of work there. He held membership in the Lincoln Republican Club and the Loyal Order of Moose. He is survived by three daughters: Darlene, wife of Robert Shucker, with whom he resided; Louella, wife of Elwood Davis, Port Jefferson, N.Y.; and Kathryn, wife of Donald Matthews, Sherman Oaks, Calif.; four sons Cyril, Huntingdon, N.Y.; Victor, Danville, Ill.; George, Dover, N.J., and Ronald, San Rafael, Calif., and 17 grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Kleinfelter, Lebanon, and Mrs. Elsie Weiss, Hummelstown, and two brothers, Harvey of Campbelltown and Joseph, Harrisburg. [Lebanon Daily News]
