Funeral services for Aroet (Roe) Herrick, 79, well known Etna resident for many years, who died Sunday, Nov 16 at a Boise, Idaho hospital after a lingering illness, are being conducted Thursday at 1 p,m. in the Etna Ward Chapel by Bp. Gail D. Burton. Interment will be in the Afton Cemetery.
He was born Dec. 16, 1889, at Warren Utah, and lived in Utah when a boy. Later he moved to Wyoming, where he farmed and drove a truck. He also owned and operated a service station for several years.
He married Sarah Sylvia Stone Oct. 18,1911, in Paris, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple,. He and his wife were outfitters and guides for big game hunters in Wyoming, and he served as deputy sheriff and game warden for 17 years in Lincoln County, Wyo. He was water-master for the Etna Irrigation District for 28 years until his retirement.
In recent years he has spent his summers in Etna and winters in Boise, Idaho.
Survivors are his wife; a son, Roe Herrick Jr., Auburn, Wyo,; two daughters, Mrs Florence Eva Bartel, Boise, Idaho, and Mrs Lois Baker, Wayan, Idaho; a brother, George W. Herrick, Twin Falls, Idaho; two sisters, Mrs Bessie Meacham, Ogden, Utah; and Mrs Olive Heap, Thayne, Wyo.; 17 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. One son, Elwin, preceded him in death five years ago.
