Sarah Sylvia Stones Herrick, 97, of Boise, died Tuesday, June 13, 1989, of natural causes.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 16, at Etna.
Sylvia was born Jan 8, 1892 at Wilson Lane UT, a daughter of Samuel James stones and Eva Hardman Stones. Sylvia was the third child of 14.
She lived in Utah until age seven. The family then moved to Wyoming. She remembered riding on the spring seat of the covered wagon when they moved.
Sylvia married Aroet Herrick on Oct 18, 1911 at Paris ID, and later the marriage was solemnized in the Logan temple. They homesteaded 160 acres in Wyoming at that time.
Sylvia and Roe had four children, tow girls and two boys.
Sylvia lived a rich full life. She delivered babies, saved lives and cared for the sick out of compassionate service, raised a beautiful flower garden, and was Wyoming's (very possibly the United States) first woman big game guide. She and her husband, Roe, each shot an elk on their golden wedding anniversary.
She was loved so much by her family and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include two daughters, Lois baker of Napma; Eva Bartel of Eagle; one son, Roe Herrick Jr. of Bedford; two brothers, Mark and John Stone; 18 grandchildren and 66 great grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren. she was preceded in death by her husband, Aroet and a son Elwin.

Her four children are "Little" Roe Herrick Bedford; Lois baker, Nampa, ID; Eva bartell Boise; and Elwin who had preceded her in death. Eva was unable to attend the funeral because of ill health. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren attended the funeral numbering about 50 family members.
