On June 10th 1758, Peter Ecrot (Eckroth) was listed as owning a draught horse by Constable John Holder in his report to Sheriff John Rinker of "the number of Wagons, Draught and Pack horses in Lynn Township, Northampton County" (History of Lehigh County, PA, 1914, pages 96 and 97. He died around 1767-68 He had four children: Christian who married Catherine Anna Schlosser then Mary Magdalen Schlosser; Henry, who married Elizabeth Schipfessel; Adam who married Barbara Nayer, and Eva Mary (Magdalen) who married Philip Burkhart. (GR, page 17; "Records", Volume 2, page 332). Anna Margaret's 2nd marriage after the death of Conrad Berverts was to Michael Hartman. The 2nd marriage was at Matthias Keffer's house in Allemangel on 8 May 1785. Witnesses were Anna Margaret Eckroth, her brother Henry Eckroth, and her brother-in-law, Matthias Keffer. g. Mary Elizabeth Eckroth (The Elder) Brn. around 1750. She married Friedrich Lutz; their son is Friedrich Jacob Lutz Jr. (Their son is buried at Jacob's Union cemetery in Jacksonville, PA. See bio: Friedrich Jacob Lutz Jr.) Her 2nd Husband was Francis Hartman (WK-book page 365) She married widower Francis Hartman on May 14th 1800 in the Church at Reading, PA. (probably St. Peter's) in the presence of witnesses -Sabastian Allgeyer and Eva Fricker (GR, page 183; Records, Volume 8, page 391). (WK-book 367)

3. Mary Elizabeth Eckeroth married Matthias Keffer 1781. She was about 30 years old at that time. (WK-page,583) Please note: It is possible that this may be Maria Christina Eckroth brn. 1758. If this were the case, she would be around 23 years of age when she married Matthias Keffer.
4. John Wilhelm Eckenroth (Ransomed by Indians?) On 19 Sep 1743, JOHANN WILHELM ECKROTH, age 18, arrived in the ship Lydia, James Abercrombie, Master, from Rotterdam. He took the oath of allegiance in Philadelphia the next day, 20 Sep 1743
5. Henry Eckenroth married Susanna Steissen Feburary 26th 1747-49. He He was instumental in establishing St. Peter's Roman Catholic congregation in Elizabethtown having built about 1752 the little log chapel on his own farm about two miles east of Elizabethtown. 6. Anna Margaret Eckenroth possibly baptised Nov. 17th 1746 At John Eckroth's house but more likely she was baptized at the Priest's house. She married Conrad Baver/Biebers/Beverts/Beebers/Bevertz in Philip Schmid's house near Cedar Creek, Machungie Township, Northampton Co., PA. (GR, page 17; "Records", Volume 2, page 332).

The ship was the snow Charlotte, meaning the ship was a snow, a square rigged vessel.

John Eckroth is thought to be buried on his farm land in Lynn Township, Northampton, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania.
Records made by David Schultz diary says: "John Eckroth was shot dead by the Indians in 1757 while plowing fields, daughter injured but survived."

In the years 1748-57 there could possibly have been earlier Church burials. Father Schneider mentions only a few burials and the dates are missing. It was only after the arrival of Father de Ritter (DeRitter) that more exact and accurate records were kept and efforts made to continue zealously the missionary work of his predecessor.
The burials of former parishioners also were buried in Reading cemetery at Old Neversink Mountain, the burials in the old cememetery in the rear of the present Church, the burials at St. Henry's cemetery at Moselem near Kutztown and the Deppen family cemetery at Mt. Pleasant near Bernville to the North of Reading.
It is unclear at the moment who John Eckroth/Eckenroth may be. It could be that of:
1. Franciscus Eckeroit Christening 26, June 1697 of Koblenz-Niederber, Rheinland, Preussen Germany. Catholic/ parents: Joanni Eckeroit and Catharinae
2. Joannes Petrus Ickerodt(Eckerodt) brn. 03 NOV. 1700 of Koblenz-Niederberg, Rheinland, Preussen Germany whose parents of Joannes Petrus Ickerodt(Eckerodt) was Joanni Ickerodt(Eckerodt)and Catharinae. Joannes Petrus Ickerodt also had a sister;
3. Anna Barbara Ickeroth Christened 14 April 1702. Koblenz-Niederberg, Rheinland, Preussen.

Odilia Eckerott may have also may have married into the Bawer/Baver/Bieber family, wife of John Baver but has yet to be proven at the moment.
5. Anna Margaretha Ickerott(Eckerott)Christened 24 AUG. 1709. Koblenz-Niederberg, Rheinland, Preussen.
It also suggest that John Eckenroth/Eckroth may have been at the age 18 when he came to the America's; which suggest he would of been born around 1725. (That being the son of John Eckenroth who may have also been captured by the Indians and held on ransom.)
Research has also suggested that he may have been born around 1709 due to finding the marker of Anna Margaretha Eckenroth (in) in the Adams, Co, Cemetery. It is unclear if this was his wife or the possiblity this is the sister of Joannes Petrus Ickerodt brn. 1700.

Ovid E. Eckroate wrote some information about the Eckroate family in which tells this story:
"An interesting story survives for the Eckroate ancestry. It seems there were three Eckroate brothers being pursued by Indians alone the river. (What river? perhaps the Ohio). Two of the brothers were caught and killed. The remaining brother escaped by hiding in the roots of a tree. It is from this surviving brother that the Eckroate lineage supposedly descended. The Eckroates that settled in Ohio were supposed to have come from Pennsylvania." (Ovid E Eckroate 9 March 1990.)

This homestead was on Sharp Mountain which is found recorded in the registers as "Monte Acuto" and similar variations. Sharp Mountain, now more commonly known as the "Spitzenberg" is near the village of Kempton in Albany Township. Other Catholic families living in this corner of Berks County were those of Adam Stahl(er), James and John George Spring(er), John Fuss, and some members of the Lorentz family. Other Catholic families living in this corner of Berks County were those of Adam Stahl(er), James and John George Spring(er), John Fuss, and some members of the Lorentz family. "An interesting story survives for the Eckroate ancestry. It seems there were three Eckroate brothers being pursued by Indians alone the river. (What river? perhaps the Ohio). Two of the brothers were caught and killed. The remaining brother escaped by hiding in the roots of a tree. It is from this surviving brother that the Eckroate lineage supposedly descended. Submitter's note "In English": Egenroth is part of a settlement of Heidenrod of Rheingau-Taunus region.
The place is part of a founding of the Katzenelnbogener. This little village area of Heidenrod was called "Erechenrod" around 1260. The Cloister Gronau founded it. In the year 1569 and 1631, Egenroth had eight Households, in 1634 there was only four, in 1648 was Egenroth abandoned. The settlement is located east of the Cloister Gronau and of the Altenberges.

Please note: "Auf Deutsch": Der Eggerather Hof wurde erstmals 1197 urkundlich als Eckenrode erwähnt und steht unter Denkmalschutz. Vermutlich handelte es sich damals um einen Weiler, wird er doch als uilla (villa=Dorf) bezeichnet. Im 14. Jahrhundert nannte sich ein Adelsgeschlecht nach dem Hof. 3. Mary Elizabeth Eckeroth married Matthias Keffer 1781. She was about 30 years old at that time. (WK-page,583) Please note: It is possible that this may be Maria Christina Eckroth brn. 1758. If this were the case, she would be around 23 years of age when she married Matthias Keffer.
4. John Wilhelm Eckenroth (Ransomed by Indians?) On 19 Sep 1743, JOHANN WILHELM ECKROTH, age 18, arrived in the ship Lydia, James Abercrombie, Master, from Rotterdam. He took the oath of allegiance in Philadelphia the next day, 20 Sep 1743
5. Henry Eckenroth married Susanna Steissen Feburary 26th 1747-49. He He was instumental in establishing St. Peter's Roman Catholic congregation in Elizabethtown having built about 1752 the little log chapel on his own farm about two miles east of Elizabethtown. 6. Anna Margaret Eckenroth possibly baptised Nov. 17th 1746 At John Eckroth's house but more likely she was baptized at the Priest's house. John Eckroth is thought to be buried on his farm land in Lynn Township, Northampton, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania.
Records made by David Schultz diary says: "John Eckroth was shot dead by the Indians in 1757 while plowing fields, daughter injured but survived."

In the years 1748-57 there could possibly have been earlier Church burials. Father Schneider mentions only a few burials and the dates are missing. It was only after the arrival of Father de Ritter (DeRitter) that more exact and accurate records were kept and efforts made to continue zealously the missionary work of his predecessor.
The burials of former parishioners also were buried in Reading cemetery at Old Neversink Mountain, the burials in the old cememetery in the rear of the present Church, the burials at St. Henry's cemetery at Moselem near Kutztown and the Deppen family cemetery at Mt. Pleasant near Bernville to the North of Reading.
It is unclear at the moment who John Eckroth/Eckenroth may be. It could be that of:

3. Anna Barbara Ickeroth Christened 14 April 1702. Koblenz-Niederberg, Rheinland, Preussen.

It also suggest that John Eckenroth/Eckroth may have been at the age 18 when he came to the America's; which suggest he would of been born around 1725. (That being the son of John Eckenroth who may have also been captured by the Indians and held on ransom.)
Research has also suggested that he may have been born around 1709 due to finding the marker of Anna Margaretha Eckenroth (in) in the Adams, Co, Cemetery. It is unclear if this was his wife or the possiblity this is the sister of Joannes Petrus Ickerodt brn. 1700.

The 2nd marriage was at Matthias Keffer's house in Allemangel on 8 May 1785. Witnesses were Anna Margaret Eckroth, her brother Henry Eckroth, and her brother-in-law, Matthias Keffer. Other Catholic families living in this corner of Berks County were those of Adam Stahl(er), James and John George Spring(er), John Fuss, and some members of the Lorentz family. The place is part of a founding of the Katzenelnbogener. This little village area of Heidenrod was called "Erechenrod" around 1260. The Cloister Gronau founded it. In the year 1569 and 1631, Egenroth had eight Households, in 1634 there was only four, in 1648 was Egenroth abandoned. The settlement is located east of the Cloister Gronau and of the Altenberges.

He died around 1767-68 He had four children: Christian who married Catherine Anna Schlosser then Mary Magdalen Schlosser; Henry, who married Elizabeth Schipfessel; Adam who married Barbara Nayer, and Eva Mary (Magdalen) who married Philip Burkhart. Research has also suggested that he may have been born around 1709 due to finding the marker of Anna Margaretha Eckenroth (in) in the Adams, Co, Cemetery. It is unclear if this was his wife or the possiblity this is the sister of Joannes Petrus Ickerodt brn. 1700.

The 2nd marriage was at Matthias Keffer's house in Allemangel on 8 May 1785. Witnesses were Anna Margaret Eckroth, her brother Henry Eckroth, and her brother-in-law, Matthias Keffer. Ovid Eckroate mentioned a story about the Eckroate family that there were three Eckroate brothers; two were killed by Indians the other survied by hiding in the roots of trees near a river. It was only after the arrival of Father de Ritter (DeRitter) that more exact and accurate records were kept and efforts made to continue zealously the missionary work of his predecessor. The burials of former parishioners also were buried in Reading cemetery at Old Neversink Mountain, the burials in the old cememetery in the rear of the present Church, the burials at St. Henry's cemetery at Moselem near Kutztown and the Deppen family cemetery at Mt. Pleasant near Bernville to the North of Reading.
Please note: On the (WK-book, page 23) It is noted that on Aaron Donat's "Farm of 80 acres was situated near Wanamaker and on (this) the land of Aaron Donat a man named Eckroth (John Eckroth) was shot dead ( on 28 April, 1757 by the indians) while plowing, and his daughter was wounded." Please note: Christian Henrich, whose home was consistently used as a Mass House until his death in 1798. This homestead was on Sharp Mountain which is found recorded in the registers as "Monte Acuto" and similar variations. Sharp Mountain, now more commonly known as the "Spitzenberg" is near the village of Kempton in Albany Township. Other Catholic families living in this corner of Berks County were those of Adam Stahl(er), James and John George Spring(er), John Fuss, and some members of the Lorentz family. Ovid E. Eckroate wrote some information about the Eckroate family in which tells this story:
"An interesting story survives for the Eckroate ancestry. It seems there were three Eckroate brothers being pursued by Indians alone the river. (What river? perhaps the Ohio). Two of the brothers were caught and killed. The remaining brother escaped by hiding in the roots of a tree. It is from this surviving brother that the Eckroate lineage supposedly descended. The Eckroates that settled in Ohio were supposed to have come from Pennsylvania." (Ovid E Eckroate 9 March 1990.)

Submitter's note "In English": Egenroth is part of a settlement of Heidenrod of Rheingau-Taunus region.
The place is part of a founding of the Katzenelnbogener. This little village area of Heidenrod was called "Erechenrod" around 1260. The Cloister Gronau founded it. In the year 1569 and 1631, Egenroth had eight Households, in 1634 there was only four, in 1648 was Egenroth abandoned. The settlement is located east of the Cloister Gronau and of the Altenberges.

Please note: "Auf Deutsch": Der Eggerather Hof wurde erstmals 1197 urkundlich als Eckenrode erwähnt und steht unter Denkmalschutz. Vermutlich handelte es sich damals um einen Weiler, wird er doch als uilla (villa=Dorf) bezeichnet. Im 14. Jahrhundert nannte sich ein Adelsgeschlecht nach dem Hof. Verschiedene Adelsfamilien waren im Laufe der Jahrhunderte Eigentümer des Hofes. Im 18. Jahrhundert wurde er als Rittersitz aufgeführt. Im 19. Jahrhundert gelangte der Hof in bürgerlichem Besitz.

"An interesting story survives for the Eckroate ancestry. It seems there were three Eckroate brothers being pursued by Indians alone the river. (What river? perhaps the Ohio). Two of the brothers were caught and killed. The remaining brother escaped by hiding in the roots of a tree. It is from this surviving brother that the Eckroate lineage supposedly descended. Other Catholic families living in this corner of Berks County were those of Adam Stahl(er), James and John George Spring(er), John Fuss, and some members of the Lorentz family. The 2nd marriage was at Matthias Keffer's house in Allemangel on 8 May 1785. Witnesses were Anna Margaret Eckroth, her brother Henry Eckroth, and her brother-in-law, Matthias Keffer. Submitter's note "In English": Egenroth is part of a settlement of Heidenrod of Rheingau-Taunus region.
The place is part of a founding of the Katzenelnbogener. This little village area of Heidenrod was called "Erechenrod" around 1260. The Cloister Gronau founded it. In the year 1569 and 1631, Egenroth had eight Households, in 1634 there was only four, in 1648 was Egenroth abandoned. The settlement is located east of the Cloister Gronau and of the Altenberges.
