Christopher Eckenrode is the son of John Eckenroth and Anna Margaret

Update note: It is possible he is J. Christophal Morgenroth or Nesselroth AKA: Eckeroth/Eckroth/Eckenrode/Eckenroth from the ship Queen of Denmark that came Nov. 3, 1752 along with Christian Henrich Sr.

It is yet unknown if this is the burial site to Christopher and his wife Anna Maragret (Henrich) Eckenrode

Christophel/Christophal (Christopher)or ("Stofel") Eckenroth(2)/Eckroth/Eckerode of Lynn Township, Lehigh County, Northampton, PA and Anna Margaretha (Henrich)Eckenrode daughter of Christian Henrich Sr. and wife Maria Margartha born(Bieber/Schlosser?)Henrich, widow of John Weibel. (GR, page 110; "Records", Volume 3, page 387.

Please note: I want to say he was born after 1750-1755. (Not considered fact at the moment).

Please note: is is also possible that Christofel's parents were Joannes Henricus Ikrott (Eckroth) and Anna Margarethae Moeller who were married August 13th 1750 at St. Vitus Catholic Church in Olfen, Westfalen, Preussen near Coesfeld Germany.

Please note: It is also possible that Christophel's(2) grandparents may be that of Joannes Petrus Ickerodt(Eckerodt) brn. 03 NOV. 1700 of Koblenz-Niederberg, Rheinland, Preussen Germany whose parents of Joannes Petrus Ickerodt(Eckerodt) was Joanni Ickerodt(Eckerodt)and Catharinae. Joannes Petrus Ickerodt also had a sister; Anna Margaretha Ickerott(Eckerott)Christened 24 AUG. 1709.

Please note: it is possible that Joannes Henricus Ikrott may have stayed aboard ships after 1743 and set sail back to Germany to fulfill his passage pay to the Americas. (We are not certain and should not be counted as fact).

Please note: Stophel(Christopher) Eckroth(2) (Eckerode/Eckenrode was assessed taxes for 150 acres of land, horses and cattle in in Lynn Township, Northampton County in the years 1781, 1785, 1786 and 1788.

Christopher and Anna Margaretha (Henrich) Eckenrode children are:

1. Peter Eckenrode(3) brn. 7th April 1780 married Maria Egg/Eck on 26th November 1798 near the blue Mountains at home of Stophel Eckroth. In the 1800 Census it shows that Peter (3), his wife, newly born son, single brother John(3) and single sister Elizabeth (3) were living in the household of Christopher and Anna Margaret(2) in Lynn Township, Northampton County (1800 Census, page 566). 2. John Eckenrode(3) brn. 24th 1782 November married Anna Catharine Reppert on September 24th 1804 See bio: John Eckenrode

3. Elizabeth (3) brn. around 1783/4 married George Miller;they lived in Derry township, Westmoreland County, PA (Check Egypt reformed Church cemetery for possible relationship to the Miller family such as George Miller)
Update info: George and Elizabeth Miller died in Derry, Westmoreland Co., Pa. Elizabeth died between 1840-1850 and George in 1853. George and either his brother-in-law or nephew, Peter Eckenrode, were witnesses at Sarah's marriage to Pendergast McGuire in 1818. (see Fr. Helbron's Greenburg Register).

He may be buried in this cemetery or near the Chillisquaque area on the farm near Chillisquaque or near a Catholic cemetery. To his actual tombstone or burial is yet unknown. I would also sugguest to look in Liberty Township, Columbia County for his burial. I would also sugguest to look in Milton, PA at St. Joseph's or even at the old farm of Martin Kieffer. Some of the interments made on the farm of Martin Kieffer were made by the Catholics of Turbut township as early as 1787, and before the Indian troubles of the frontier had subsided. I would suggest to search St. Joseph's on the 4 acres set aside by the old log cabin that was once St. Joseph's.

A clue: Sometime before March 8th 1813 did Christopher Eckenrode (2)die. His son Peter Eckenrode(3) was the Executor for his father's will and a bondsman for faithful administratioin of his Cousin Adam's estate. (Northumberland County Will File #40, Book 2, pages 207-209;and Northumberland county Probate File #39, Book 2, page 207. During the perod of 1813 through 1816, the Eastern part of Chillisquaque Township in which they resided became Liberty Township, Columbia County.

On April 16th 1817, Peter Eckenrode(3) sold the eastern half of a major portion of that half of the property to which they had inherited from Christopher Eckenrode(2)their father, (205 acres: 1/2=102 acres 80 perches) to Philip Henebough (By reference only: Columbia county Deed Book 5, page 353; Their cousin Jacob(3),George(2),John(1) had purchased a 6/10 acre part of his 1/2 of the property on March 14th 1821 and sold it to Jacob Deter in 1829 before moving to Cambria County.

On April 26th 1817, Peter Eckenrode(3) and his brother, John Eckenrode(3), sold the other half (western side) of the property they had inherited from their father to Jacob Teter (Columbia county Deed Book 5, pages 102-103. This 1/2 was on the western side. By December1817, Peter, John and brother-in-law George Miller had moved to Unity Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania (Helbron Register -HR- page 76; "Records", Volume 28, page 149). In the 1820 Census of Unity Township, Westmoreland County it shows that his family had grown to a total of ten children. His oldest daughter Elizabeth(4) had married and left the home in 1819 and two of this older sons; Jacob(4) and Benjamin(4) had hired out as farm laborers.

Sometime between the date of the 1820 Census and August 1822, Peter Eckenrode(3) and his family immigrated to Allegheny Township, Cambria County, PA. On August 16th 1822 in Cambria he made an agreement with his oldest son, Peter, Jr.(4), whereby in return for certain of his father's personal property, his son bound himself to "support his father and mother in meat, drink, clothing, and lodging for the rest of their natural lives". (Cambria County Deed Book 3, page 30).

Please note: On March 22nd 1813 Columbia County was formed from Northumerland County. For about 3 years it was uncertain whether Eastern Chillisquaque and Eastern Turburt Townships belonged to Northumberland County or to Columbia County. On January 2nd 1816, the eastern half of Chillisquaque and eastern half of Turbut were annexed to Columbia County an re-named Liberty and Limestone Townships. On May 3rd 1850 these two Townships became part of Montour County.

Christopher and Anna Margaret (Henrich) Eckroth 2 had only three children: 1) Peter Eckroth 3 born April 7, 1780; 2) John Eckroth 3 born November 24, 1782; and 3) Elizabeth (Eckroth) 3 born about 1783/1784. (Goshenhoppen Registers, pages 76 and 88; "Records", Volume 3, pages 353 and 365; Will of Christopher; 1800 and 1840 Censuses). Details of their birth, baptism etc.. are presented in Part C of this chapter. All three appeared with their parents in the 1790 Census in Lynn Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania (age 175). As indicated previously, Anna Margaret's mother died on May 14, 1795 and her father died on December 12, 1798. (WK-book, page 407).

On January 10, 1797, Christopher was involved in the settlement of the estate of John Neyer and signed a document from which a copy of his autograph signature was made (See Annex- Document not copied in its entirety). (WK-book, page 407).

Christopher's brother-in-law, Frederick Lutz died intestate between April 21st and May 12th 1798 (See Chapter 5). On May 16, 1798 Christopher Eckroth 2 was named as one of the bondsman in the letter of Administration appointing Frederick's son, Peter Lutz, as Administration of his father's estate (Northampton County Orphan's Court File #1857 -Annex Chapter 5). Later, on October 23, 1800, at the request of Peter Lutz, Christopher was appointed guardian for Jacob and Daniel Lutz, minor children , under the age of 14, of Frederick and Mary Elizabeth (Eckroth) Lutz. (Northampton Orphan's Court Book 6, page 192- Annex Chapter 5). (WK-Book, page 407).

By February 10, 1809, his ward - Jacob Lutz - had married his stepsister - Catharine Hartman (Goshenhoppen registers, page 208, "Records", Volume 11, page 200; Chapter 5). About 1806, his other ward - Daniel Lutz - had married Catharine___________? and moved between February 1809 and May 30, 1812 to the Buffalo Creek community of Armstrong / Butler County, Pennsylvania ("Father Peter Hellron's Greensburg, Pennsylvania Register", Reprinted Genealogical Publishing Company 1985- henceforth abbreviated "HR" - page 63; "Records", Volume 28, page 136, See Chapter 5).
