Henry Townsend, 82, Lacomb, died this morning at a Salem Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born June 30, 1885 at Milo, Iowa. He came to Oregon in 1937 from Holly, Colo., and settled at Myrtle Creek. He moved to Lebanon in 1941 and had lived here since that time.
He operated a grocery store in Lacomb and retired from the grocery business in 1955. He married Mabel Scharff on Jan. 11, 1909 at Madison, Kan., who survives him.
He is also survived by seven children: sons, Fred, Inglewood, Calif.; Orville, Lacomb; Arlie, Hydesville, Calif.; Ray and Tom, both of Lebanon; daughters, Zelma Davis, Delta, Colo., and Anna Moulton, Eureka, Calif., a sister, Mrs. Abby Shanks, Madison, Kan.; 22 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services are pending at Huston Funeral Home.
