Obituary.
Died, January 21, 1894, of congestion of the lungs, Martha Ann Townsend, aged 43 years and 20 days. The deceased was the daughter of Robert L. and Mary E. Bassett. She was born in Athens county, Ohio, December 31, 1850. Removed with her parents to Iowa in 1855 where she resided till the spring of 1865, when she accompanied her parents to Adair county, Missouri. On the 31st of August she was married to B. F. Townsend.
At the age of fifteen she became a christian and united with the Baptist church. Three years ago being remote from an organization of that name, she united with the Christian church at Decatur City and later on coming to Tuskego, she put her membership in with the organization at this place. Her illness lasted through a period of two weeks during which she patiently bore it all without a murmer. Sunday morning at 6 o'clock she quietly passed away. She leaves eight children, a husband, and five brothers to mourn her loss. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. B. H. Watkins at Tuskego on Monday the 22nd inst.
