James Abner was the son of Cicero Cincinnatti and Sarah Ann "Dood" (Gant) Biggs. He was the grandson of Miles Monroe and Effie Rebecca (McClure) Biggs,and William Wiseman and Sarah Ann "Sallie" (Edwards) Gant.
He had six brothers. They were:
Van Winfred Biggs, Ernest Wiseman "Wisie" Biggs, Miles Monroe "Dink" Biggs, Quintus Dabney "Q.D." Biggs, Oscar Wilds "O.W." Biggs, and Basil Blake Biggs.
James Abner married Johnnie Pearl Wade on October 28, 1908 in Alpine, Brewster County, Texas. Together they had four children. They were:
Robert Oscar Biggs, James Abner "J.A." Biggs, Jr., Charlotte Electra "Lottie" (Biggs) Waide, and Erma Jean (Biggs) Milburn.
Abner spent most of his early years in the McNeil Community in Caldwell County, Texas.
