James Abner was the son of Cicero Cincinnatti and Sarah Ann "Dood" (Gant) Biggs. Abner is the fourth of seven sons memorialized on the Texas-shaped Biggs Monument in the cemetery. Abner's brothers were: Van Winfred "Winter", Ernest Wiseman "Wisie", Miles Monroe "Dink", Quintus Dabney "Q.D.", Oscar Wilds, and Basil Blake.
Abner married Jonny Pearl Wade in Apine, Brewster Co., Texas on October 28,1908. Pearl was born in Morgan, Texas on Apr. 18, 1883, and died in Houston, Harris Co., Texas on Dec. 23,1958. She was buried in Alpine, Texas. Their children were: James Abner, Jr. "J.A.", Robert Oscar, Charlotte Electera "Lottie" (Biggs) Waide, and Erma Jean (Biggs) Milburn.
