Russell, Iowa

Margaret Goltry LaFollette, age 88, formerly of Russell, Iowa passed away at the Good Samaritan nursing home in Ottumwa, Iowa on Tuesday, May 13, 1958. Mrs. LaFollette was one of a family of thirteen children. She was born in Lucas County, Nov. 1, 1869, the daughter of Jacob F. Goltry and Emeline Force and lived her entire life in Iowa, the past 35 years in Ottumwa and vicinity.

She was married to Reuben LaFollette Nov. 18, 1891 in Lucas County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dec. 19, 1955; two daughters, Mra. Ethel Littleton in 1954 and Trylla Marie, who died in infancy and also a great-grandchild.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Henry (Flora) Cooper of Red Oak, Ia., a brother, Albert R. Goltry of Russell; a daughter, Mrs. Howard (Bessie) Dixson, of Joliet, Illinois; a son, Robert G. LaFollette of Ottumwa, Ia.; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held May 15 at the Jay Funeral Home in Ottumwa and graveside services and burial were in Russell, Ia.

Mr. and Mrs. Reuben LaFollette celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in their home Nov. 18, 1955.
