ALBERT GOLTRY
Albert Raymond Goltry, son of Jacob and Emeline Force Goltry, was born at old Zero in Cedar township, Lucas county, Aug. 22, 1880, and departed from this life April 24, 1962, at the age of 81 years, eight months and two days. He was one of thirteen children, all of whom have preceded him in death. When he was six years old the family moved to the farm that was to be his home for over 50 years.
March 29, 1903, he was married to Pearl Madge Ashba, and to this union five children were born: Keith of Fairfield, Mrs. Beryle Cole of Chula Vista, Calif., Mrs. Lucille Carlson of Des Moines, Mrs. Margaret Dillman of Russell and Martha Goltry of Fairfield.
In addition to his widow and children he is survived by five grandchildren: Marjorie Goltry of New York City, Tom Goltry and wife Carol of Plattesville, Wis., Judith Dillman Waddle and husband Dwight, stationed with the Army at Ft. Bliss, Tex., Jeanette Dillman of Des Moines, and Jerry Dillman at Forbes AFB, Kan. An infant grandchild, Josephine Leigh Goltry, preceded him in death in 1934. With those who mourn his passing are three sons-in-law: Wally Cole, Vern Carlson and Loren Dillman, and a daughter-in-law, Nelle Coop Goltry.
Retiring from the farm in 1938, he and his wife moved to Russell where they have since made their home.
"To him who, in the love of Nature,
Holds communion with her visible forms,
She speaks a various language:
For his gayer hours she has a voice of gladness, and a smile
And eloquence of beauty, and she glides
Into his darker musings,'
With a mild and healing sympathy that steals away
Their sharpness, ere he is aware."
Funeral services were held at the Woodman Funeral Home Friday, April 27. Pastor Vester Chance officiated with interment in the Russell cemetery. Pallbearers were Arthur Gookin, Carl Goltry, Glenn Beaty, Maurice Curran, Lester Van Nice and John Pierce.
