Mary (Mollie) Wright
Mary (Mollie) Wright, daughter of Jacob and Emeline Goltry, was born February 11, 1868 and passed away at the O'Donnell nursing home in Russell on Nov. 16, 1954 at the age of 86 years, 9 months, and 5 days. She spent her entire life in Lucas County.
In young womanhood, Mrs. Wright taught several schools throughout Lucas County. She was baptized on February 7, 1888 and joined the First Baptist Church in Russell, later transferring her membership to the Bethel Community Church and serving that church actively for many years.
She was united in marriage on December 12, 1889 to James M. Wright, to which union were born eight children, all of whom survive to mourn their mother's passing. They are; Richard F. Wright of Bellingham, Washington, Mrs. Mark Sellers, Ralph R., George M., David J., Mrs. Hilton Turbot, Mrs. Glenn Kells and Mrs. Ralph Werts, all of Russell, also surviving are one brother, A. R. Goltry, of Russell and three sisters, Mrs. Deborah LaFollette of Benton, Arkansas, Mrs. Margaret LaFollette of Ottumwa, and Mrs. Flora Cooper of Villisca, twenty-four grandchildren, and twenty seven great grandchildren.
She was always a devoted wife and mother and was ever glad to lend a helping hand whenever possible. Even throughout her later years she felt a keen interest in all forms of nature, and until quite recently she kept a daily written account of her thoughts and observations.
