ANDREW THOMAS GAST
Andrew Thomas Gast, 80, RFD 4, Union township, died Saturday at 10:55 p.m. in Porter Memorial hospital after a lingering illness. Born in Union township Aug. 2, 1879, he resided in the area all his life and was a farmer by profession and a member of St. Paul's Catholic church.
He was married to Hanora Fitzgerald June 14, 1904, at St. Paul's church. She preceded him in death May 13, 1956. He was also preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Lloyd Shearer, Mrs. William Christy, and Mrs. Robert Ritz, Sr.; three sons, Gerald, Edward M. and Thomas; one sister, Mrs. Isaac Hodsden; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, all of Valparaiso.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. in the Dykes Funeral home followed by requiem high mass at 9 o'clock at St. Paul's church with Msgr. W. E. Sweigart officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today until time of services. Pallbearers at the services will be Richard Shearer, Jr., Warren Ritz, Thomas and Brian Christy, and James and Earl Gast.
The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
