Valparaiso -- Ellen M. Ritz, age 87, a resident of Valparaiso, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2002 at the Lifecare Center. She was born in Valparaiso, November 17, 1914, daughter of the late Andrew and Hanora (Fitzgerald) Gast and was a lifelong resident. She was a homemaker and and a graduate of Wheeler High School in 1932. Survived by son, Loren (Arlene) Ritz of DeMotte, IN; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Katherine Christy of Valparaiso. Preceded in death by husband, Robert W. Ritz, son, Robert E. Fritz, one sister, Frances Shearer and three brothers, Edward, Gerald and Thomas Gast.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 1, 2002, 10:00 a.m. at Dykes Funeral Home Chapel, 2305 N. Campbell St., Valparaiso, IN, with Pastor James Clark officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials to the VNA Horton Hospice Center, Valparaiso, IN.
